VENICE, Fla., May 3, 2006 – PGT Industries, the nation’s leading manufacturer and supplier of residential impact-resistant windows and doors, won three ADDY Awards in the Suncoast Chapter of the American Advertising Federation’s advertising creative awards competition. The company won a Gold, a Silver and an AMY – a special award given to the highest scoring entry in the category.
In addition, PGT won four Bronze Telly Awards for its television commercials. The Telly Awards honor outstanding local, regional, and cable television commercials. The 26th Annual Telly Awards received over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents.
The ADDYs are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition. Winners of the GOLD ADDY Awards go on to compete at the 14 district competitions. District winners are then forwarded to compete in the national ADDY Awards competition.
“We are thrilled to receive such celebrated awards,” said Cara Klein, PGT’s director of advertising and public relations. “The awards reflect the positive feedback we have received from customers and industry professionals.”
The 30-second TV spots and series of magazine ads, produced and created by Miami-based advertising agency Beber Silverstein Group, took a humorous approach to educate consumers on the benefits of impact-resistant windows. The advertising campaign, titled “Plywood,” features graffiti messages on plywood-covered windows from hurricane-weary homeowners bemoaning the cave-like conditions inside their plywood-shuttered homes.
Commenting on the spots, agency Creative Director Joe Perz said, “PGT’s Plywood Campaign works because it’s honest and entertaining. Homeowners, especially those who know what it’s like to worry about an approaching hurricane, can certainly relate to the spots. We are fortunate to have a client that lets us do something very different for the category.”
Beber Silverstein Group is the agency for all PGT products.
