PGT® to Sponsor 3rd Annual Suncoast BBQ Bash to Benefit Handicapped Children

(Venice, Florida)—PGT Industries (, the nation’s leading supplier of impact-resistant windows, is proud to be a top sponsor of the 3rd Annual Suncoast BBQ Bash ( to benefit the Suncoast Foundation for Handicapped Children. One of only four businesses to be honored as a “Top Hawg” sponsor, PGT staff volunteers will greet patrons, coordinate raffles and wave signs at the event, which will be held Saturday, April 21, 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m., at the Venice Airport Festival Grounds, 595 Airport Ave., Venice, Fla. Parking and admission are free.

“The rationale behind our involvement with the 3rd Annual Suncoast BBQ Bash is, of course, community involvement and giving back,” says Debbie LaPinska, vice president, sales and marketing, PGT. “But the selection of that particular event is based on providing protection, much like our impact window products, to those who need it; in this case, handicapped children.”

The BBQ Bash schedule of events includes: a BBQ cook-off contest, a qualifier for the 2012 Jack Daniels World Championship Cook Off; chili for charity contest; bluegrass jamboree; cooking exhibits; kids’ zone; canine connections; cornhole tournament; Chrome for Kids Poker and Bike Show; jammin’ at the pub; folk craft exhibits; and much more.

The Suncoast Foundation for Handicapped Children hosts the 2012 Suncoast BBQ Bash, proceeds from which will be used for improvements and maintenance to Foundation facilities at the Sarasota, Venice and North Port campuses.

Additionally, there are several non-profit organizations that will benefit by participating in this year’s event. These include the Sertoma Speech Clinic, Venice High School Junior ROTC, Venice Police Explorers, Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 for Kids, North Port Police Explorers, Boy Scout Troop 77, Habitat for Humanity, Cancer Support Community and Southeastern Guide Dogs.

Listed on NASDAQ, PGT is one of the largest employers in Sarasota County and a pioneer of impact-resistant windows and doors.
