Optional Packages Reduce Outside Noise And Increase Burglar Resistance
VENICE, Fla., March 2, 2009 – PGT Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of PGT, Inc. (NASDAQ: PGTI), has unveiled the SpectraGuard™ 2300 Series, its new line of vinyl windows for the replacement window market. This line is designed with the latest in energy-efficient technology to deliver a money-saving window to consumers. In addition, select SpectraGuard windows qualify for the recent tax credit in the 2009 Stimulus Plan, which enables homeowners to receive a tax credit of up to $1500 by purchasing qualifying energy-efficient products.
“The new SpectraGuard Series exemplifies our commitment to provide customers with high quality replacement window products that incorporate the latest in energy saving technologies,” said Doug Cross, Vice President of Vinyl Product Stream at PGT. “As a leader in impact-resistant windows, and laminated and tempered glass technologies, PGT is on the cutting-edge by incorporating both sound reduction and safety protection features into the energy-efficient SpectraGuard line. We also make innovative use of aesthetic design elements to create windows that look better than other vinyl windows in its class.”
The complete SpectraGuard vinyl line for replacement or remodeling includes double hung, horizontal roller, picture/fixed lite architectural and combination windows. PGT delivers features in its standard SpectraGuard window that other manufacturers consider upgrades including: double-strength insulating glass, high-performance Solarban 60 Low-E glass and argon gas, as well as Super Spacer® NXT technology. As a proud partner of the US Department of Energy’s ENERGY STAR® program, all SpectraGuard products are ENERGY STAR compliant.
SpectraGuard windows purchased with a U-Factor of 0.30 and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of 0.30 qualify for the $1500 credit in the Stimulus Plan.
Super Spacer, the insulating, structural foam spacer system, offers many benefits. It keeps the glass edge temperature up to 16.6 degrees warmer than other systems in cold weather tests. It also keeps inside air cooler on hot summer days. Super Spacer outperforms metal spacers by virtually eliminating condensation, which means less mold, resulting in a healthier home environment. This spacer system also delivers up to 18 percent less sound transmission when compared to other systems.
PGT offers two optional SpectraGuard package upgrades: Climate Control and Sound & Security. Both of these packages can be customized for specific regional climate conditions through the innovative use of Low-E glass coatings. The Sound & Security package uses laminated glass to meet the UL972 burglary safety standards providing increased protection against intruders.
The product line is backed by one of the best warranties in the industry – a lifetime warranty on the frame, insulating glass components and hardware. Strength and high design pressure ratings are inherent in PGT’s product design, with all SpectraGuard windows achieving a DP 50 rating standard. Products are available in white or beige and meet AAMA, NFRC, ENERGY STAR and STC certifications.
SpectraGuard also offers unsurpassed wood-like beauty and character using a unique three-step beaded profile on both the frame and the sash. Contoured grids between the glass, as well as beautiful simulated divided lites, add to the wood-like look. The combination of low maintenance, excellent energy performance and wood-like beauty, set PGT SpectraGuard vinyl windows apart from the competition.
