Buy PGT Vinyl windows that have both a U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of a .30 or less. A list of qualified products can be found in the documents at the top of this page. NOTE: This is a preliminary product list - more products that qualify will be added in the coming months. |

For record keeping purposes, maintain a copy of your sales receipts and the PGT Manufacturer Certification Statement (MCS) . An MCS is a signed statement from the manufacturer certifying that the product qualifies for the tax credit. Taxpayers must keep a copy of the statement for their records, but do not have to submit a copy with their tax return. |

Purchase and install the qualified windows during the 2009 and 2010 tax years. The tax credit only applies to the purchase price of the windows and does not include labor costs associated with removal of the old windows or installation of the new windows. |

Follow the directions on your 2009 or 2010 Federal Income Tax Form (use the 2009 version of the IRS Tax Form 5695 - it will be available late 2009 or early 2010.) |
